Granby was originally populated by Indigenous peoples before the first loyalist settlers arrived in 1813, followed by the first French Canadians in 1835. The city only only achieved city status in 1916, but today, it’s is a lively Eastern Townships city well-known for its Granby Zoo – and for its Festival International de la Chanson de Granby, a popular music festival that has been an annual mainstay since 1968.

Granby is located halfway between Montreal and Sherbrooke; it boasts several parks and the Lac Boivin Nature Interpretation Centre. There’s also a municipal library, a CEGEP and a hospital.
